Brüel & Kjær Vibro (B&K Vibro), one of the leading worldwide suppliers of condition monitoring and protection solutions for industrial machinery, has signed a contract with Denmark-based FLSmidth Cement A/S (FLSmidth Cement) to provide a plant-wide online condition monitoring system (OCMS) for main and critical machinery in cement plants.
For several years, B&K Vibro has supplied FLSmidth Cement with its OCMS solution for rotary cement kiln monitoring. B&K Vibro provided advanced fault detection and diagnostic technique expertise to fulfill the unique and demanding monitoring requirements of kilns. This latest agreement elevates the collaboration, enabling B&K Vibro to deliver plant-wide monitoring solutions across all critical equipment in addition to the kilns, including, but not limited to, crushers, process fans, coolers, ball mills, and vertical mills.
The OCMS solutions provided for in this partnership agreement will consist of state-of-the-art sensors and the VCM-3 monitoring system, which has been fine-tuned by B&K Vibro’s highly skilled application specialists, specifically to FLSmidth Cement’s strict domain requirements for advanced failure-mode detection and diagnostic capabilities for each machine type. Beyond improving machine reliability, this partnership is expected to set new standards within the cement industry for seamless hardware integration, diagnostics and data-driven prescriptive insights.
Palle Huus Bentzen, Head of Pyro Services at FLSmidth Cement, said, “With the experience we gained with B&K Vibro in providing a successful monitoring solution for the cement kiln, we look forward to extending this agreement to monitor other critical machines within the cement domain in continuous support to our customers’ requirement of limiting unwanted downtime. Their cooperative support and expertise were a crucial foundation for the success of this comprehensive monitoring solution.”
Jesper Hansen, Sales Area Manager, B&K Vibro, said, “B&K Vibro’s VCM-3 technology and customized machine vibration insights have successfully demonstrated efficiency and scalability. This agreement reinforces our position as a trusted partner in delivering innovative solutions tailored to the operational needs of FLSmidth’s global cement operations.”
Through FLSmidth Cement’s cloud infrastructure, the potential scope of this collaboration spans 150 countries. Initial implementation of the systems will deliver significant operational benefits and serve as a benchmark for enhancements across B&K Vibro and FLSmidth Cement’s broader service framework.
