BMG will be launching the new Danfoss iC7-Automation Variable Speed Drive (VSD) enclosed range at Electra Mining Africa 2026, marking the local introduction of a drive platform, designed by Danfoss specifically to be intelligent, versatile, future-proof and reliable.
“BMG and Danfoss Drives have enjoyed over a decade of close collaboration since signing a strategic alliance agreement in 2015. This formal partnership arrangement strengthened BMG’s original distribution agreement for Danfoss VSDs and the soft starter range, which has been in place since 2007,” explains Sean McCree, Key Account Lead, BMG. “Visitors to the BMG stands (J10, J12 and K17) at Electra Mining Africa 2026 will have the opportunity to see new Danfoss iC7-Automation equipment first hand and discuss with BMG and Danfoss local VSD technical specialists in detail, how the product’s design requirements (intelligent, versatile, future-proof and reliable) distinguish it.
“As part of this launch, BMG has made a significant investment in local stock, with 400 V IP20 iC7-Automation models available up to 710 kW. This strategic stockholding will enable faster delivery, improved project support and reduced lead times for customers in diverse industrial sectors.
“The introduction of the Danfoss iC7-Automation range forms part of BMG’s ongoing strategy of introducing advanced automation technologies that improve productivity, energy efficiency and operational reliability in Africa.
“The Danfoss iC7-Automation series has been developed as a VSD platform for demanding industrial applications where performance, uptime and ease of integration are essential. This new range has been designed to simplify commissioning, optimise machine performance and provide users with greater operational flexibility throughout the lifecycle of their equipment.
“The portfolio will cover the range of frequency converters: 0.37 – 710 kW, air-cooled system modules: 200 – 2700 kW and free-standing enclosed drives: 200 – 1200 kW (with both 6-pulse and AFE variants) in the voltage range 380-500V. This portfolio will be extended to 525-690V and higher powers in 380-500V in coming months.”

Enhanced fieldbus flexibility enables rapid switching between industrial communication protocols without requiring additional hardware, helping system designers standardise equipment, while simplifying upgrades and reducing engineering complexity.

Danfoss iC7-Automation drives – designed for compatibility with a wide range of motor technologies – provide users with greater freedom when specifying equipment for new installations or modernisation projects.
