Datamine Acquires Mineware Africa and Mineware Consulting

Remote equipment monitoring software that enables predictive machinery maintenance is one key focus area that Datamine will provide to mining operations worldwide.

Datamine, one of the world’s leading providers of mining technology solutions, has announced the strategic acquisition of Mineware Africa and Mineware Consulting. This move significantly enhances Datamine’s capabilities in mine management software, with machinery maintenance enabled by remote monitoring as one key focus area for mining operations worldwide.

With over forty years of experience and operations in twenty countries, Datamine provides solutions across the entire mining value chain — from exploration and resource modeling to mine planning, operations, logistics, fleet management, and sustainability — to more than 6,000 companies globally.

Mineware Consulting, a South African software development and consulting firm, specialises in operational mine management systems. Its solutions leverage digital data to streamline and optimise modern mining operations by integrating multiple operational functions into a single platform, including strong support for equipment control and machinery maintenance.

Mineware’s flagship software, Syncromine Core, is a web-based mine management suite that consolidates key mining disciplines — including production and planning, safety monitoring, human resources, time and attendance, bonus calculations, ore accounting, geological analysis, budgeting, stores and ordering, and equipment control — into one accessible interface.

This unified platform gives mines real-time visibility, improved efficiency, better control, and customised reporting capabilities across their operations. Its cloud-native architecture enables remote monitoring, allowing maintenance teams to access equipment status and performance data from any device, anywhere on site or off site. As part of its equipment management capabilities, Syncromine Core includes a Planned Maintenance module that supports the capture and planning of maintenance activities on both fixed and mobile machinery. Real-time data dashboards and asset tracking provide an accurate picture of equipment health, helping maintenance teams manage asset registers, schedule preventive maintenance, align plans with daily operations, and reduce unplanned downtime.

The cloud-native design supports rapid implementation with reduced on-premises setup and integrates with other systems via APIs. This flexibility allows teams — including maintenance personnel — to make data-driven decisions, improve equipment reliability, and enhance overall operational performance.

In addition to the core platform, Mineware offers a range of specialised modules, including production management, survey and evaluation, sampling, and mine safety solutions. These modules help streamline daily, weekly, and monthly planning (including maintenance scheduling), capture critical operational data, enhance safety controls, and support integrated reporting across departments.

Mineware also implements AI-driven solutions for major South African mining customers. These tools automate data verification and validation processes, improving accuracy, reducing reporting backlogs, and ensuring critical equipment and safety information reaches teams faster. By automating repetitive tasks, skilled personnel can focus on higher-value activities such as reliability analysis and proactive maintenance improvements.

The acquisition enhances Datamine’s ability to support digital transformation at mine sites, providing customers with a more comprehensive suite of mine management tools. This includes strengthened capabilities in machinery maintenance enabled by remote monitoring and equipment control, helping improve productivity, safety, resource utilisation, and ore management.

“This acquisition strengthens our vision of being one partner for every stage and every challenge of the mine,” says John Bailey, Datamine CEO. “Mineware’s web-based mine management suite consolidates critical mining disciplines, from production and planning to safety, ore accounting, HR, equipment control, and budgeting, into one accessible platform. Together, we are delivering real-time visibility, greater efficiency, and improved control across the entire mining value chain.”

Ian Saker, MD of Mineware Consulting, adds: “This acquisition enables Mineware to take deep, Africa-born operational mining expertise to a global stage. Our systems have been shaped by some of the most complex operating environments in the world, where reliability, discipline, and real-time control are non-negotiable. As part of Datamine, we can now scale this experience internationally, delivering practical operational intelligence that helps mining teams perform better every day.”
