On-load tap-changers (OLTCs) regulate power transformers used in electrical energy networks and industrial applications.
Reinhausen GmbH is establishing its own production facility for on-load tap-changers in Saudi Arabia. To this end, the company signed a partnership agreement with Saudi consultancy AKID Advisory on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, at the Global Investment Summit in Paris. Reinhausen plans to invest around €10 million by 2030.
The facility will be located in the Ash Sharqiyah Province of Saudi Arabia. Reinhausen is leasing an industrial facility with a floor area of 6,000 to 7,000 square metres, of which around 4,000 square metres will be used for production and operations. The site is designed to produce 500 units or more per year. The company aims to meet expected demand from the Saudi market and the wider GCC region through 2030.
The site will manufacture vacuum on-load tap-changers, as well as the ETOS® operating system for the automation and digitalisation of power transformers. In addition to assembly and testing, the site will handle warehousing, logistics, service and sales. The products manufactured at the facility will include vacuum on-load tap-changers and ETOS®.
Reinhausen established its Saudi subsidiary, Reinhausen Saudi Arabia Energy Company, in 2025 and appointed a local management team. The expansion of production, industrial licensing and the start of manufacturing are planned for early 2027.
